How to use File & text checksums

Calculate MD5 or SHA checksums for exact local file bytes or UTF-8 text, with optional comparison.

  1. Choose your input type and options. Try the clearly labelled sample first.
  2. Text up to 1 MiB, or one local file up to 20 MiB. Empty input is supported. All bytes stay on your device.
  3. MD5 and SHA-1 are legacy integrity checks unsuitable for security. A checksum alone does not authenticate a file. This is not password hashing.
  4. Choose the action to process locally, review the text result, then copy or download it. Editing or clearing the input discards the old result. Cancel stops the worker; leaving the page clears working data. No input or result is uploaded or stored by this tool.
